watch avatar? check!

so i finally watched the recenlty popular 'Avatar'.
and...
and......
......
...
..
*drumroll*

it wasnt too bad at all. honest opinion here, though the script was horrible and the plot was a complete ripoff off Pocahontas, and the acting was quite blank and empty, the effects were all worth the hype.
I was at the 3D screening and i was taken away by the visuals; the night scenes essepcially. the artistic elements in this film were just breathtaking. the Na'Vi look so perfectly sculpted, and though foreign, still so familiar.

but Unobtanium? that's kinda stupid, wouldnt you think. But check this out:
"In engineering, fiction, or thought experiments, unobtainium is any extremely rare, costly, or physically impossible material needed to fulfill a given design for a given application. The properties of any particular unobtainium depend on the intended use. For example, a pulley made of unobtainium might be massless and frictionless. However, if used in a nuclear rocket, unobtainium would be light, strong at high temperatures, and resistant to radiation damage. The concept of unobtainium is often applied flippantly or humorously."

so thats where they got it from!
still, after all the creative endevour used to make this film, James Cameron could create a new language, but not come up with a cleverer name for the damn element? tsk, tsk. No, no.

anyhow, im surprised to see its at No.50 on imdb.com's 250 best movies of all time. That didnt take long, and i might dare to add that it seemed unfair! but i suppose its worth it, not a bad see and i suspect its one of those commercial films that people will still watch 20 years down.

anyhow, thats all for now. Dr. Parnasuss tomorrow.
so whats up with you?

(P.s. my brother refers to neanderthals as "the men we were, back in the day". :S )
