“Happiness is a warm gun” said Lennon/ McCartney.
So what happens after the trigger is pulled and the bullet bursts out while the gun reverberates in your hands? Do you hands keep shaking? Does the gun malfunction and shoot straight into your face? No, no, no. There are no answers, no right opinions. Who’s to say?
There is so much you can do to damage a perfectly good thing. And there is so much you can do to fix it. But maybe in the end, it’s not about that. It’s not about keeping it spoiling it, fixing it, hating it, loving it. Just being able to appreciate it from a distance could very well be good enough. It’s the ride, not the fall, I always say. It is easier to incorporate this philosophy in love rather than friendship. Somehow passion is easier seen over camaraderie. One must remember the ride, or bitter memories will dig themselves deep, deep into your heart, leaving you vinegary and pungent.
Valentine day walks with dogs to meet boys. Punja over coffee. Late, late night food and freak shows. Birthday shopping. French nail polish. Long, four hour conversations. Czech republic spies. Crying over the phone. Making out in the pool house. Kicking stones. Pinching. Truth and dare. Three times lucky. Four times lucky. Food. The bottomless pit. Math exams. Hindi exams. Identical brain twins. Same pinch. One minute silences. Fighting crime trying to save the world. Girlfriends, boyfriends. Movies. Music. Coffee. So much coffee. Basket ball. Secrets. Love. Life. Loyalty. Light.
There was so much to fight for, there was so much love. There were bonds that couldn’t be broken.
Time, time changes everything. I should stop nurturing my grudges. Let them free to haunt whoever else. I should open myself again, leave those insecurities behind. Enjoy the ride. Embrace the fall. Enlighten myself while i rebuild.
Happiness is a warm gun, yes it is.
