Gods of Gods

musicologists say that a hundered years from now, beatles songs will be so well known that littl ekids will be learning them as nursery rhymes and people wont even know who wrote them and just take for granted that they were always there, sort of like mary had a little lamb or twinkle little star.
**********
who didnt know about the 'paul is dead' rumor? i did, didnt care either. however, recently after seeing 'across the universe', a movie after the beatles song of the same name, whose protagonist who looks uncannily like paul, i wanted to do a little extra research on the grand four man group. i was surprised i hadnt dont so before.
and as curiosity would have, i peered into the whole conspiracy. and it took me back to kurt cobain and jim morrison and elvis. i remembered my absolute hate for courtney love after vehemently beileveing that she had a big part to play in cobains murder, not suicide. and of course, i belived that elvis was alive, hiding out with his teddy bear in some ranch somewhere in texas or something. and jim morrison, janis joplin and jimi hendrix were killed by the givernments secret agents to eradicate radicals. and of course, paul.
paul is dead, was replaced by a dude who won a paul look alike contest. the beatles alter ego for paul was billy shears which you can transform to read: billy's here. then the eeire cover of the st. peppers broken hearts club band with he HE^DIE on it, and all those other clues. then looking again, for the millionth time probably, but this time really looking at it, seeing paul without his shoes on sent shivers up my spine. then the refernce to 'wednesday' in quite a few songs (wednesday being the day he was apparently killed in a car crash). i sat feeling a little scared because i felt a little deceived and of course the whole inhumanity of it all was terrifying.
but then i thought. why the fuck would they send out clues to the whole world about the 'replacement beatle' when they were trying to hard to cover it all up? it was probably a hoax or as one persons article said online, is referncing his rebirth after the meditation with the maharishi. that seemed like such an intellectual remark after all the gobbledegook. sigh.
we, mere mortals, will die and no one will remember us, read out books, listen to our voices, trip on our music or make movies. but these greats, all we want to do is somehow, in anyway, elevate their positions. make gods of gods.
maybe paul is dead. and william has had to lie so much he's become paul. maybe kurt did kill himself, maybe courtneys call controlled the trigger. maybe joplin, henrix and morrison just were too hung up drugs to really live at all, maybe some man who comes home from work and cries when he heard "L.A. Woman" on the radio and breaks down inexplicably has something to do with it. elvis might be alive and thrusting on his farm, maybe he just needed to lose some weight and quit the drugs. diana was killed or not by the queen. and marilyn? tupak shakur and biggie?
the numerous refernces, the twisting of simplest simples into mind boggling, spin chilling evidence you cant seem to refute or agree with.
we are the obsessed generation. mere mortals in need of high, beautiful objects of worship.
