Gustav vs. Gwen

it just occurred to me today that the song "If I Were A Rich Man" from the musical "Fiddler On The Roof" is ripped off from Gustav Mahler's "Symphony No.1. in D - 3. Feierlich und Gemessen, Ohne Zu Schleppen."

Thus Gwen Stefani's 2004 hit "if i were a rich girl" is a rip off of Gustav Mahler.

somehow, when i see how classical music has formed so much of what we listen to today, it gives me a very warm feeling, just knowing somehow it will all be carried forward.

and nothing will truly be forgotten. .

but it annoys me a little to know that there are now half clad, skanky chicks on a make believe pirate ship gyrating to Mahler.
