while i'm all for free love and all....

so with last years module on evolutionary psychology i figured that human beings, like most other mammals, aren't supposed to be monogamous. Almost all mammals engage in polygamy or polyandry, and its perfectly acceptable.
thus, one would assume that monogamy in humans is a social construct and a deviant from instinctual behavior.

BUT!

but, but but.
i also figured that most of what happens in nature is either a reinforcer or a deterrent for some sort of behavior.
For example, if you go out into snow without a sweater, you'll get pneumonia. Into the sun without sunblock, skin cancer. india without repellent, mosquito bites. and so on so forth.
thus i would go on to say that the body WILL react badly to what its not supposed to do.

So. If we were supposed to be polyamorours,
why the hell do we get STD's?

'nuff said.
